Google Earth has created innovative software application for 3D imaging of the ENTIRE EARTH. The newest form of atlas! You can plug in your home address and "fly" from outer space right to your building and then "fly" from your house to your friends' for Thanksgiving! Using 3-D technology, you can see mountain passes and other topography to make history and earth sciences classes come alive. Well worth downloading! (Hint from our webmaster, if you're having trouble with random lines being displayed in Google Earth, go to Tools - Options - 3-D View and change Graphics Mode from DirectX to OpenGL or vice versa.)

Annotation
In most countries outside the United States geography is treated as a separate school subject--distinct from general social studies or history. The controversial issue of learning concepts and facts in geography does not emerge in many other countries--it is an educational "given".
