Some educators at universities and in research organizations pay lipservice to the role of teachers in garnering research or feel that a six week period of involvement by teachers is just right. Telecommunications guarantees a serious, sustained commitment of teachers in research. Moreover, many of the student protocols, such as writing samples and multimedia productions and scientific investigations, can now be easily placed on line for all.
