The Pathfinder Teaching and Learning Units present important scientific concepts and engage island values, such as careful stewardship of the environment.These standards-based instructional units were developed by Pacific classroom teachers as part of the Pathfinder Institutes sponsored by the Pacific Mathematics and Science "Regional Consortium at Pacific Resources for Education and Learning (PREL) and the University of Hawaii Sea Grant College Program.
The units work well for Pacific Island learners everywhere, including multi-cultural curricula. Directed at intermediate school and lower level high school students the set includes 'The Island's Freshwater and Ecology, " "Our Coral Reef" and "Fish as a Marine Resource. "A Field Trip to Nan Madol" invites students to explore, as paleontologists, and important archaeological site.
