Education for a Sustainable Future is a five-year Technology Innovation Challenge Grant designed to develop a collection of curriculum units that provide students with the skills, knowledge, character, and vision to become productive citizens who will contribute to a sustainable future. Sustainable development is defined as "meeting the needs of the present without compromising the ability for future generations to meet their need". This framework of sustainable development creates interest in students and provides the opportunity for interdisciplinary, collaborative, student-focused, inquiry-oriented, technology-rich approach to learning of both topic and disciplinary knowledge.
