These on-line newsletters are for your reading pleasure.
EDUCATION WEEK is now available online. You can explore particular issues and search the archives. In an early September issue a calendar of key conferences nationwide is published by subject and sponsors. It will help your staff allocate their professional development funds wisely.
Education.com could be considered a 21st century complement to EdWeek. At no cost the "reader" can indicate preferred topics and receive related events, news, professional development and tips on new Web tools sent automatically.
From Now On publishes an educational technology journal with topics, such as the Web-A Tool of Research; so far the editors have been successful in separating the "wheat" from the "chaff". Their "The Question is the Answer" page tells you how to create a Questioning ToolKit to encourage student questioning and research. Quite good.
A newsletter, Improving America's Schools, is a great DOEducation resource. In fact the May 96 issue contains excellent guidelines and case studies for professional development. Links to other networks are supplied, also.
The Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development delivers a free email daily about hot topics, culled from other national publications. It is in digest form so you can read in=depth about topics of particular interest to you.
PEN or the public education network offers a NewsBlast but it includes information about funding and highlights tips for principals
Annotation
The DOEd site includes many other projects beside staff development and technology.
If your school is embarking on a major professional development effort, the resources at the above sites will be invaluable. Check with your regional lab for assistance and resources available for your district.
