You can find e-mail mailing lists (or listservs) for just about any subject related to teaching, including things like lesson plans, teacher burnout, and field trips. Use the following resources to locate a list for you.
At Tile Net is a simple tool for searching for listservs. More recently indexed than some of the others, you can stay way up-to-date.
Started in January 96, The Internet Teacher (yam) (free) is published bimonthly online. (Adobe Acrobat is needed to view the multicolored version.)
The DOEducation does have a listserv to which you can subscribe: EDINFO. The DOEd sponsored a comprehensive discussion once this year; if another is initiated, you will see a posting on EDINFO. Edinfo posts summaries of grants and reports. You can download the full document from the Web page.
The DOE is also hosting town meetings via satellite during the coming school year. Call 800-USA-LEARN.
Check with your local school or school district webmaster about hosting a mailing list for your school or specific topic. Many independent ISP's will also host mailing lists at no or low charge.
Many more publications targeted towards this niche will appear soon. And many states have organized efforts, like Telis. If your state is just beginning, become a contributor!
