In addition to the listservs, some sites feature a weekly or monthly update of selected online projects of special interest to educators. (Other sites, too, post the Cool Site of the Week or some such.) Generally, the selection of topics is random, because attached to these sites is a "web-bot" which sifts through new listings in particular categories. In some cases, staff just like to surf and a project catches their eye and becomes a "favorite". While it is worth checking the national initiatives at the Department of Education or NSF or NTIA a few times a year to match their funding cycle, the recommendations at these sites change more frequently.
Especially if you have received a new class assignment mid-stream or searching for a project for an individual student or refreshing a "tired" unit, this entry may meet those needs.
