The Virtual Reference Desk, sponsored by ERIC, offers both experts and archived expertise.The goals of this project include building a national collaborative, maintaining a database of available services (approximately 70)and knowledge base of archived answers, a starter kit for building an expert service, and a discussion group for lessons learned.

The Department of Energy site dedicates space for those seeking expertise in energy and remewable energy, in particular.

JPL also sponsors a site for searching for another planet earth called Planet Quest.
