In Video Jam students act as the director of a multimedia production--choosing the set, hiring the actors, designing the special effects.
HYPERSTUDIO is the chief tool for young multimedia makers in training studios for film houses. Student products with HYPERSTUDIO have been incorporated into both entertainment and documentary films. Easy for the novice, it is designed for the "creative, the clumsy and the cool"(according to Roger Wagner's brochure)(Note: Hyperstudio is now owned by Cendant.).

I Have Hyperstudio..Now What Do I Do?" by Karen McBride and Elizabeth DeBoer Luntz and "HyperCard 2.2 or 2.3" (another popular multimedia production software ) by George Beekman can be ordered from the ISTE catalog. HyperStudio is now a plug-in for Netscape's browser so its flexibility has been enhanced. The founder of Hyperstudio, Roger Wagner, has published a booklet, entitled How To Turn Your VCR Into A Printer. This tidbit will allow you to show a video of your students' work when no computer is available.

Apple have been regarded traditionally (since the 1980's) as the PC computer of choice for graphic artists and movie-makers. DesignWorlds is aimed towards students interested in collaborative design and multi-media. Sample student projects serve as illustrations. The iMovie capabilities seem to reach new levels of simplicity of use each year. All you need is a MAC, video editing software, a FireWire connection cable to transfer the huge amount of data usually generated in a video project and a digital camcorder.
