Frank Miracola offers his considerable experience and "netiquette" about working with telecollaboration partners. His preferred listserv is KIDSPHERE (pitt), where you can find assistance, as well as partnerships. The advice of such experts will make the experience planful and productive rather than chatty.
Several sites, such as TENET, have comprehensive catalogs also.
A specialized, educational tool called Profiler Pro initiates a collaorative tool by facilitating a survey--choose your topic-- after which the data and responses guide a discussion group. The responses may indicate the expertise of a resident mentor.Very dandy. Most versions are not costly. It was developed by the Department of Education.

Increasingly, remote schools are joining together in networks for school reform. Be sure to ask the developers of a model you may select for partner schools. Exchanging on the ground perspectives can be very helpful.
