The Exploratorium has an innovative collection exploring the science of sports. Using baseball, hockey, surfing, skateboarding, basketball and cycling, it explores physics of sports.
For example, hockey uses Real Audio and Video to explain how a slapshot is accomplished, calculation of reaction times, and collision impact. Skateboarding looks at materials science and how a skateboard can stick to the skater's feet in midair.
