The Franklin Institute sponsored a summer fellow to develop oceangraphy through literature--a double hitter for elementary school-aged students.

"450 More Story Stretchers for the Primary Grades" takes selected story books and "stretches" them into different centers, activities and areas of the curriculum, including art, creative dramatics, games, classroom library, mathematics, music and movement, science and nature, special projects, special events and the writing center.

The books on Amazon/com's "The best in Ecofiction" can be of value to introduce older students to some of the issues of ecology outside of the seemingly mind-numbing facts & figures seen in many articles & texts on the subject.
