Part of the Network Montana Project, this Earth Systems Science Curriculum has been prepared as a graduate level course, especially for teachers who want to familiarize themselves with this topic as they prepare to introduce it to their students. For each of the topics--atmosphere, geosphere, hydrosphere, biosphere and cryosphere--novice, intermediate and expert levels of curriculum are available.This course has also been designed to teach online skills-task definition, information gathering, location and access, use and extraction of information, synthesis and evaluation.Each of the topics includes the MOST comprehensive compilation of links which this author has yet discovered.Most of the links are for teachers and older students but they are very valuable for all.Teachers may also contribute to this site and carry on the tradition of knowledge-building which the Web allows so easily.A variety of data types, including NASA images,can be accessed; thus, the most uptodate tools as well as information have been incorporated here.

A procedure is in place for you to obtain Continuing Education Credits.

This site, although aimed at advanced students, could be replicated easily for any age group above grade 3.The course has been constructed according to Piagetian learning principles.Completing this course before embarking on environmental studies in your own classroom will provide a rich background.Concepts are presented in the context of earth science rather than energy-physics, for instance.(See also geography)
